Sound Journey to Self,
a voice & frame drum retreat
9am-4pm @ Flower of Life Yoga
Our voice is a powerful instrument. Have you ever experienced all its wonders?
Reflection of our inner universe, the voice is accessible, vulnerable and “younique” to us.
It is our way of communication, expression, connection, and celebration. Though social and cultural conditionings, combined with emotional traumas, have crystallized in our body, we have the perfect tool to free them!
We will move & dance, sound and sing and laugh!
Let’s dive deeper into Nada Yoga, the Yoga of Sound, uncovering our own frequencies and their self-healing abilities!
The frame drum is an ancient percussion. It has been played around the world for a long time and is known under the name of tar, bendir, tof, daf…. Its roles along history took different paths, and its benefits are now backed up by neurosciences. We will learn the basic strokes of the lap style, how to embody and note rhythms, explore our own inner rhythms and entrainment, co-create a piece with frame drum & voice!
Please bring a notebook, pen, water bottle and comfortable clothing.
Investment: $175 for the day
The Art of Frame drumming:
rhythms for meditation
Saturday, September 30th, 8:45am-12:30pm
@ Healing Gardens at Stone Hill Farm,
37W249 Dean St, Saint Charles, IL

-
A brief ‘her-story” of this ancient instrument
-
How to play the five basic strokes in lap style, and how they are related to the elements
-
How to write rhythms
-
Embody basic rhythms in nature
-
Create a drumming piece in relationship to the Healing Gardens
Frame drums will be provided. But if you have a native drum, you are welcome to bring it.
Please bring a notebook and comfortable clothes.
